Shaw’s acquisition of Restructured Canwest cleared by Competition Bureau

(Winnipeg - August 13, 2010) Canwest Global Communications Corp. (“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced today that the Competition Bureau has concluded its review and will not challenge the proposed transaction between Canwest and Shaw Communications Inc. contemplated by the restated consolidated plan of compromise, arrangement and reorganization (the “Plan”) relating to Canwest, Canwest Media Inc. (“CMI”) and certain of its subsidiaries (collectively, the “CMI Entities”) pursuant to the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada) and the Canada Business Corporations Act.  The Plan was sanctioned by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) on July 28, 2010.

Court sanctions Canwest’s restated consolidated plan of compromise, arrangement and reorganization

(“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced today that the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) (the “Court”) has issued a sanction order (the “Sanction Order”) approving the restated consolidated plan of compromise, arrangement and reorganization (the “Plan”) relating to Canwest, Canwest Media Inc. (“CMI”) and certain of its subsidiaries (collectively, the “CMI Entities”) pursuant to the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada) and the Canada Business Corporations Act.

Affected creditors approve restated consolidated plan of compromise, arrangement and reorganization

(Winnipeg - July 19, 2010) Canwest Global Communications Corp. (“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced today that the affected creditors of Canwest, Canwest Media Inc. (“CMI”) and certain of its subsidiaries (collectively, the “CMI Plan Entities”) have overwhelmingly  approved a restated consolidated plan of compromise, arrangement and reorganization  pursuant to the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada) and the Canada Business Corporations Act (the “Plan”).
